As part of the social safety nets, the Vice President of Nigeria flagged off the Rapid Response Register (RRI) on 19th
January 2021. The RRI project will identify poor persons living in the urban areas to receive N5000 (Naira) for the
next six months. So far, about 3,225 families has received payments. It is expected that about One million
households will benefit from the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) cash transfer scheme as part of the President’s
administration to lift individuals and households out of poverty foe the next two years.
/ / Although funding is a constraint for Nigeria, the world bank country director, Mr Subham pledges his support to
program as it’s a core component of response to covid-19 pandemic. This project is undertaken by the Ministry of
Humanitarian Affairs.
